Easily described as a series of contradictory belief systems, I am a hyperanalytic twenty-something looking for meaningful and satisfying work & play. I’m a gym monkey and pilates devotee who does not own a TV, just a laptop with Internet access and a Netflix account (it keeps me plenty busy). Entertainment technology fascinates me, though the current content being churned out leaves much to be desired. Museum outings and arthouse films engage me. I’d also like to know how to save the world from itself, as well as how to read faster, since I spend more on books than I do furniture.
Bottom line: I want to learn something new everyday. . . otherwise I’m kind of antsy, and it would mean a lot if I could help change the world for the better in the process.

Just wondering if you had received any calls from The White House Project. Your first answer is great….looks like you might be what they are looking for.

Rachel,
At this point, all I know is that there were 3000+ applicants for 80 spots. I think people accepted will hear by May 15th.
Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, applied last week, Haven’t heard anything so have been cruising around the web to see if anyone who had applied had heard anything yet. They intend to confrm winners by May 2, announce on May 5. I’m getting antsy since I expect they will do preliminary interviews/reference calls fairly soon.

pacer521,
it’s a little odd for a 13-year old to have an e-mail address tied to a venture capital company. . . thus I am redacting the urls you are including in your comments, since hyperlinks are already including via your username

Hey,
I have working with LinkedIn for quite some time now and I came a cross your profile. It is very impressive. I was wondering if you would like to link up?
November 3, 2008 at 5:20 pm |
Thanks Bret. Glad you stopped by my blog!
I actually tend to only connect with people I’ve met or interact with regularly. But you should go to BrazenCareerist.com and under the tab “Join” apply to join the sydicated blogging community. It will link you up with lots of Gen Y bloggers and help build your online audience.

Blogger’s note: In responding to Sarah, her e-mail bounced as non-existent. Accordingly, I have redacted the url plugged in her comment.
Zak –
Really like your identifying factors of GEN Y. I am developing a story about Gen Y and Obama for this blog-esque news site called [redacted] and I came across your writing referenced in the blog What Would Dad Say?’ Oddly enough I studied at the University of Melbourne last year for 5 months and I am from NJ too. Weird! Anyway great writing, keep it up.

Hi Sarah,
It’s said the 2 items have more in common than they have different, but we’re clearly stepping it up a notch.
You should also stop by Brazen Careerist. All the bloggers are Gen Y and have written extensively about Obama over the past months.
My pre-election Obama push is here
I hope you’ll send me a link to your post when it’s up!

Hi zak,
I really really like what you’ve been doing lately. And please don’t take the sincere compliment as any kind of condescension, but your own writing just gets better and better.
Cheers!

so are you more for creative commons or copyright? open source or closed systems?

If you’re planning on stealing my work and posting it in full somewhere else — that’s not cool.
If you’re posting a clip with a link back to my blog — that’s ok.
While I appreciate open source when it comes to building software, I don’t see how taking and manipulating my content is going to open any doors to technological or philosophical break throughs, thus I maintain rights to my own content.
