Since my recent post on police tasering, several more incidents of police brutality have made their way to the media.
- Video: NYC officer beats man with metal baton. Man held down and beaten by a 2nd cop, while a 3rd cop looks on.
- Ozark police use stun gun on boy with broken back after fall. Apparently the boy wasn’t following their instructions, so they tasered him. Perhaps finding someone unmoving at the base of a bridge, one might consider the possibility of injury before exaccerabting that injury with electrical shocks — but I’ve always been too practical.
UPDATE 8/12/08
- Are stun guns too deadly? Here’s an update on the trial of the officer who shocked a man to death via 9 applications of his taser gun.
Thought they might be of interest.

What exactly happened before the tasering of the Ozark boy?

if I remember correctly from the posts I had been reading. he was walking along a high trafficked over pass and concerned citizens called the cops. They came across his body at the bottom of bridge. It sounds as though the officers didn’t find him cooperative enough — he wasn’t getting up. Some article suggested he was saying some not so things to the cops — boy got tasered. Turns out the boy fell off the bridge and was lying there with a broken back, without a weapon.
