Fitness Instructor Discounts

I never had much luck finding current instructor discount programs with fitness shoe and apparel companies. So, I thought I’d try to provide updated coverage below. For most of these programs, you need to provide a copy of your current fitness certification card/certificate, as well as proof of working in the field (business card, pay stub, or letter on gym letterhead from your supervisor).

Adidas 3 Stripes Instructor Program: Once you’ve verified your instructor status, you’ll be sent quarterly catalogs with apparel in colors not available in retail stores or discounted sneakers (running, cross training, walking, studio)

AviaSelect: Once you’ve verified your instructor status, you’ll be sent quarterly catalogs for apparel and sneakers

Barefootyoga: 10% discount available to yoga instructors only

Be Present: 15% discount on men’s and women’s yoga apparel. Email customer service for code.  ADDED 01/09

Bluefish Activewear: they’re always at fitness conventions, and their product lines can now be find in select department stores as well. Apply for your 15% discount. ADDED 07/200 8

Couture Active Wear offers a 15% discount if you apply as an Elite Fitness Pro

Danskin Fitness, Dance (Ballet), and Yoga Apparel: officially they do not have an instructor discount program. But upon e-mailing customer service, the respondent told me that if I sent her my order number, she’d take 20% off the bill if I furnish proof of fitness employment

DeezFit: Activewear and athletic wear for women.  They carry the following brands: Tiempo Libre, Margarita, Brasil Sul, Couture, Lino Fintess, Anatomie, Pure LIme, Binka, and Basiz. 10% Pro-Discount available.  ADDED 10/20/08

Doce Vida Fitness offers a 30% discount on women’s and men’s fitness apparel provided you contact customer service first ADDED 01/06/09

Fit Couture: 15% discount on apparel for women

Fitlee: check in with customer service toward the end of September 2008; they’re running a clearance sale discontinued/end of season products right now. Once the new stuff is up, they’ll have an instructor discount code available again. ADDED 08/08

Freddy is an Italian sportswear vendor that offers a 50% discount off of posted prices for instructors (LINK UPDATED 1/08)

IVEE:  Women’s fitness apparel.  With proof of your instructor status you can apply to become an IVEE Elite Member and receive one-year 20% discount on all purchases online. In exchange, you provide online feedback regarding the fit and style of IVEE apparels. You can enjoy the member discount as long as you share your feedback with the company.  Ask customer service for an application ADDED 2/10/09

Lululemon: If you go to one of the Lululemon retail stores you can pick up an application to be part of their R&D team. Once you provide proof of your instructor status you can apply for a one-year 15% discount on all purchases. In exchange, you provide online feedback 3x or more per year regarding the fit and quality of the garments. You can renew as long as you keep up on feedback to the company.

Marika: 30% discount off the apparel on their website. Marika has some pretty amazing clearance sales, so we’re talking $7 camisoles — sweet!

New Balance: Pro F.I.T. program offers discounts on apparel and shoes

Otomix: men and women’s apparel; they offer discounts to trainers who have registered with them (fax them a copy of your certification, along with you name, address, and phone number — their contact info is under the info tab on their website) ADDED 12/07

Pearl Izumi offers a 40% discount on a seasonal limit of $1000 in purchases to ACSM-certified professionals only. ADDED 4/09

prAna: yoga, pilate, and active wear for men and women.  50% discount if you sign up for their Pro Deal.   Fitness Managers can sign up their entire team for the discount, which would be a great thank you to your instructors ADDED 08/08

Rese Pilates: women’s pilates and yoga wear that translates well to other sports; 20% discount off online store prices; application available by emailing customer service. UPDATED 2/09

Ryka: Once you’ve verified your instructor status, you’ll have access to their online store featuring a 20% discount off retail prices + free shipping UPDATED 3/09

Sense clothing:  active wear and yoga apparel for women; 10% off with code “YJ2008″ ADDED 07/ 08

Speedo: Speedo offers discounts to aqua instructors and their students. Go through customer service for an application.

We Pilates: super soft  - Supima ®, and Organic Supima® cotton clothing Luxe collection for women, men and kids. 10% Discount with code INSTRUCT (ADDED 07/08 )

YogoCo: 20% discount on yoga/pilates mat bags. (ADDED 10/08 )

One last retailer. . .

Lucy has a number of retail stores across the country, as well as a website, selling women’s activewear and apparel. Though they don’t offer specific instructor discounts, you great great coupons by e-mail and in the e-mail if you sign up for their newsletter. I’ve scored items knocked down 75% using their coupons in the sale section. They have their own in house line, as well as carry name brands.

Great clothes…not sure if there’s a discount… I’ll move them up above when I hear back from customer service
